Apple Now Stamping Apps with Age Ratings

Posted on Thursday, April 4, 2013 by RICHARD HARRIS, Executive Editor

In yet another measure to inform app users on exactly what they are about to download, Apple is now stamping app descriptions with a 'recommended age' rating as seen in the image above.

It appears the developer has no control of this, since the iTunes connect website only still allows rating an app based on content. Our assumption is that Apple has formed an algorithm which takes the information you provided about your app, and rates it appropriately for people.

The new recommended age rating can be seen just below the developer credits on any app in the app store.
