Posted on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 by RICHARD HARRIS, Executive Editor

The 2014 Hour of Code global event is happening now as part of Computer Science Education Week. The event is organized by Code.org. The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science. The concept was created to demystify code. It is also for those who just want to learn the fundamentals.

Computer Science Education Week (#CSEdWeek) was welcomed by President Obama as he visited 30 middle-school-aged students from Brooklyn, NY and Newark, NJ to also participate in the “Hour of Code” for the White House. Millions of people worldwide will be participating in the Hour of Code events this week.

Platform approaches are rapidly developing. Mobile computing applications are reaching maturity levels in which developers can ease into better flexibility for optimization. Developers today should have a platform-centric approach to developing mobile applications.

Sean Allen, Director of Product Strategy, OutSystems and Zahid Jiwa, VP, UK and Ireland, OutSystems will be speaking at the upcoming event on topics of the hour of code, what the future holds for students who pursue app development and key skills that aspiring computer science students and entrepreneurs should learn.

OutSystems is a Rapid Application Delivery (RAD) platform provider. Developers can create fun consumer apps and also sophisticated apps for the enterprise. OutSystems is a high-productivity application platform (PaaS) for managing mobile and web applications. The Platform offers automation of core DevOps best practices.
