Mobile DBaaS Platform MongoHQ Changes Name to Compose

MongoHQ, a database-as-a-service provider, has announced that it is changing its name to “Compose,” to reflect additions to its platform and services.

The company says that it is moving beyond a single platform to become a multi-DBaaS vendor, adding ElasticSearch as a service through its platform. For developers, the company says the changes will provide the ability to combine the use of MongoDB for application data with the search capabilities of ElasticSearch through a single DBaaS platform.

As an open-sourced structured search engine, ElasticSearch can be utilized for a number of uses, including user-defined, flexible queries across a range of attributes and full text search. ElasticSearch’s indexing engine facilitates data that needs to be queried across a range of different attributes based on user input.

Developers who use the Compose platform pay for the data as used. Plans start at $18/GB per month for MongoDB, and $54 per month for the first 2GB for ElasticSearch, then $18/GB per month as it grows.
