HP IDOL OnDemand Platform Releases New Cloud Connector APIs

Posted on Friday, September 19, 2014 by STUART PARKERSON, Global Sales

HP Software has released new cloud connector APIs for IDOL OnDemand, giving developers the ability to retrieve data from a wide range of content repositories, including websites, to create a true information platform.

HP Software also announced that more than 3,000 developers worldwide are now using the HP IDOL OnDemand platform to create applications that leverage human information and big data analytics.

The IDOL OnDemand Platform was created to deliver a set of unstructured data processing APIs to help build apps that expand the ability to solve some of the toughest information challenges. They launched the early access IDOL OnDemand Innovator Program to invite developers try out the early access APIs.

HP IDOL OnDemand is a solution for bringing extensive data analytics to an app and for augmenting Big Data solutions using REST APIs. The platform leverages the advanced data processing engine from HP Autonomy by exposing dozens of capabilities for understanding and analyzing unstructured human information. Developers can use these APIs to create consumer and enterprise applications that harness the information available in social media, video, images, free text, and more.

The latest IDOL OnDemand cloud connector release supports retrieval of information from the web. The web connector type can crawl a website, then allow the user to index the content in IDOL OnDemand’s text indexing APIs. Once the content is indexed, it becomes available for use in dozens of other IDOL OnDemand APIs for further enrichment. By combining multiple IDOL OnDemand APIs, developers can create services that tackle a number of use cases.
