Apsima Adds Social Presence SDK for iBeacon Enabled Mobile App Development

Posted on Thursday, September 4, 2014 by STUART PARKERSON, Global Sales

Apsima has announced their latest offering, a social presence SDK to allow mobile app developers to add proximity based social features to any mobile app.

The social presence SDK was built to extend iBeacon use beyond business to consumer interaction by allowing mobile users to interact with one another based on their physical proximity.

The social Presence SDK can be utilized by developers to create new apps or can be integrated into any existing development. App users will have the ability to opt in or out as well as to set their desired visibility, such as only to those connected through their social networks.

Use cases include the ability for employees to know who else is in the office and interact in real time; at a festival to see who is also in attendance, and where they are located; or use in a mall to notify users when a friend is also shopping.

Apsima’s proximity technology utilizes geo-fencing and close-proximity micro-location beacons in order to empower mobile applications with real time proximity awareness of nearby mobile device users. Businesses can actively engage with their audiences in the exact moments it matters most, when they are physically interacting with their brand, storefront, venue, etc., with the messages most relevant to them. And with the new SDK, consumers can interact with each other independently.

Apsima’s social Presence SDK is currently in beta, available to anyone utilizing the Apsima iBeacon platform.
