Adeneo Embedded has announced the release of the Texas Instruments (TI) Android KitKat 4.4.4 Reference Board Support Package (BSP) for TI's Sitara AM437x platforms. This release includes support for the AM437x evaluation module (EVM) general purpose board.

TI’s Sitara AM437x processor, based on the ARM Cortex-A9 core, is designed with highly integrated peripherals, and low-power architectures. The AM437x EVM enables developers to immediately start evaluating the AM437x processor family (AM4376, AM4377, AM4378 and AM4379) and begin building applications such as portable navigation, patient monitoring, home/building automation, barcode scanners, portable data terminals and others.

Software components that are supported in this release include: Android KitKat 4.4.4 release from Google, Android Linux Kernel 3.12, Android GCC toolchain 4.7, Bootloader (SPL and U-Boot), SGX OpenGL ES Driver and Libraries DDK v1.10, built-in applications and demos, and peripheral drivers.  This BSP is fully validated using CTS testing suite, and implements separation between system and boot partitions.

This Android KitKat Reference BSP for Sitara AM437x processors release package contains a prebuilt binary image that can be flashed on to a SD/MMC card.  To download the free binary package for evaluation or to purchase the source package from Adeneo Embedded, visit the Adeneo website.

Adeneo Embedded has been collaborating with TI for many years on Linux, Android and Windows Embedded technologies by developing reference software solutions for Sitara, OMAP and DaVinci technologies .The release of the Android KitKat BSP for Sitara AM437x processor allows Adeneo Embedded to help OEMs, who are developing advanced, connected embedded devices, go to market faster while optimizing cost.  Adeneo is also collaborating with TI for distribution, maintenance and support of Android on Sitara technologies.
