Talent Acquisition continues to be a challenge for many companies. As we move closer to the new year, SciPlay’s SVP of People, Kimber Dall, shares key trends shaping the workforce in 2025:

2025 workforce trends from SciPlay: Evolution of in-office work

"I believe we’ll continue to see more companies requiring in-office work to maximize collaboration and better foster the highly creative and iterative games industry,” Kimber shared.

Diversity and inclusion

"Diversity will likely continue to be a critical part of recruitment strategies. For example, one of our 2025 KPOs for diversity is to increase the number of women and underrepresented minorities in management roles. In particular, studios will work to eliminate biases in hiring processes, develop mentorship programs, and foster a culture where employees from all backgrounds feel represented and see themselves represented in the leadership of the company."

The shift to skills-based hiring

"With gaming technologies rapidly evolving, developers will need to consistently upskill to stay competitive. To attract and retain top talent, we will need to offer personalized learning paths, continuous education opportunities, and mentorship programs."

Work-life balance

"The gaming industry has had a challenging history with work-life balance, especially during crunch periods. I think we’ll see more robust benefit offerings in the space of mental health, wellness, etc. Studios will prioritize employee well-being by flexibility, mental health resources, and creating environments that encourage healthy work-life flow."

Soft skills

"Given the increasingly global and collaborative nature of the gaming industry, soft skills such as communication, collaboration, empathy, and adaptability will be critical. Employees will need to work across time zones, manage multicultural teams, and sensitively approach the rapidly changing dynamics of our world."
