The Linux Foundation is again hosting its annual LinuxCon conference which will be held on August 22 – 24 in Toronto, Canada offering the opportunity for developers, sys admins, architects and all types and levels of technical talent to gather together at one event for education, collaboration and problem-solving for the Linux platform.

The event offers more than 100 sessions ranging from tutorials to deep technical dives and everything in between and 1,000 Linux community members with which to collaborate.

This year LinuxCon will be hosting the following additional co-located events:

KVM Forum

KVM is an open source hypervisor that provides a platform for datacenter virtualization, virtual desktop infrastructure, and cloud computing. The KVM Forum is an annual technical conference that brings together a community of developers and users that define the KVM ecosystem. Discussions will include the current state of affairs and plan for the future of KVM, its surrounding infrastructure, and management tools.

The agenda includes sessions on the state of the KVM virtualization stack, planning for the future, and many opportunities for attendees to collaborate.

Xen Project Developer Summit

The Xen Project creates an open source hypervisor that is powering some of the largest clouds in production today. During 13 years of development, the Xen Project enabled many different use cases covering data center and server virtualization, cloud computing, desktop virtualization,  security for desktop computing and within hardware appliances. More recently, the Xen Project started to expand into new markets covering NFV, mobile virtualization, embedded virtualization and automotive.

The Xen Project Developer Summit, brings together the Xen Project’s community of developers and power users for their annual developer conference. The conference is about sharing ideas and the latest developments, sharing experience, planning, and collaboration.

Linux Security Summit

The Linux Security Summit is a technical forum for collaboration between Linux developers, researchers, and end users. Its primary aim is to foster community efforts in analyzing and solving Linux security challenges. It provides the opportunity to present and discuss an individual’s work or research with Linux security community members and maintainers. It’s also useful for those who wish to keep up with the latest in Linux security development and to provide input to the development process.

CloudNativeDay

The Cloud Native Computing Foundation is hosting a CloudNative Day to bring together contributors in cloud native applications and computing, containers, microservices, central orchestration processing, and related projects to further cloud native education.

CloudNative Day will provide a platform for showcasing a full range of technologies that support the cloud native ecosystem and leading expert discussions on cloud native projects.

Open Source Storage Summit

The Open Source Storage Summit examines trends in the software defined storage space, the world of storage infrastructure and integrations to the cloud. The summit will delve into Storage as a Service and the open source projects that contribute in this space, from CoprHD, Flocker and RexRay to Ceph, GlusterFS and OpenStack Swift.

Some of the topics covered include software defined storage controllers and API platforms, persistent storage with Docker, storage management with OpenStack, open source storage platforms and the new heterogeneous open source software stack for storage.

ContainerCon

ContainerCon delves into the growing importance of virtualization to enterprise IT operations and cloud services. The event focuses on the education and innovation needed to make virtualization systems more efficient, adaptive, and easier to deploy. Linux has been at the center of this movement with advancements in nearly every aspect of virtualization with Linux containers.

ContainerCon will bring together leading contributors in Linux containers, the Linux kernel, and related projects. ContainerCon will bring together a diverse range of experts from cloud computing and Linux containers to offer a general technical conference that is open to everyone - creating a place where companies can network with users and developers to advance computing.
