Consolidation in the mobile app industry continues with App Annie’s acquisition of Distimo. This is App Annie’s first acquisition and was made with a combination of cash and equity at undisclosed terms.

The two companies have not specifically indicated how the merger will pan out from a product integration standpoint, with App Annie saying that, “What you will see over time is that this acquisition will allow us to accelerate the development and launch of new features, platforms and products that will allow you to deepen the analysis of your own apps and the app marketplace.”

No timeline has been given for how long Distimo customers will continue to have access directly to Distimo products as indicated by this statement from Distimo CEO Vincent Hoogsteder, “What happens to the Distimo products? We’re going to be working closely with the App Annie team to integrate and merge all our best features into the App Annie platform. When this is complete, we will start a smooth migration process so that all of the data you hold with Distimo is seamlessly accessible on App Annie. We will keep all Distimo users and customers regularly updated.”

As part of the acquisition, App Annie CEO Bertrand Schmitt says that Distimo’s founders will take key roles within the App Annie team, and the Distimo Netherlands headquarters will become App Annie’s European R&D center. The Distimo team will be integrated into App Annie’s global offices, bringing App Annie to a total size of 240 employees worldwide.

And App Annie continues to raise funding to spur growth with a total of $39 million in venture capital to fund, most recently a $17 million inside round of funding from their existing investors part of which was used for the acquisition.
