If you haven’t registered for The Game Developers Conference (GDC) which is only a couple of weeks away, you still have time to get discounted admission. Just visit the registration page to register and receive the discount.

GDC is the worlds largest and longest-running professionals-only game industry event. It will be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, USA from March 17-21.

The GDC attracts over 23,000 attendees, and is a forum where programmers, artists, producers, game designers, audio professionals, business decision-makers and others involved in the development of interactive games gather to exchange ideas and shape the future of the industry. The GDC is produced by the UBM Tech Game Network.

The conference features over 400 lectures, panels, tutorials and round-table discussions on a comprehensive selection of game development topics taught by industry experts. In addition, the GDC Expo showcases the latest game development tools, platforms and services.

The conference also features the sixteenth annual Independent Games Festival, the longest-running and largest festival relating to independent games worldwide, where original games compete for the attention of the publishing community, and the fourteenth annual Game Developers Choice Awards, the premier accolades for peer-recognition in the digital games industry. The event is also home to the Independent Games Festival.

The Game Developers Conference has grown from an informal gathering of about 25 developers in the living room of a game designer 27 years ago, to a week-long conference. In 2011, GDC commemorated the 25th edition of the conference, serving as a testament of how far the industry has come.

Initially, the GDC was focused on computer games, but the industry has now diversified to the point that it includes any number of platforms, such as dedicated gaming consoles, handheld devices, mobile, smartphone and tablet devices, online, and of course computers. From year to year, the GDC continues to define market innovations and future vision, providing insight into the future of gaming.

Sessions at the GDC are divided into seven tracks and eight summits. This year's main conference tracks include the following: Advocacy Track, Audio Track, Business, Marketing & Management Track, Design Track, Production Track, Programming Track, and Visual Arts Track.

There are also a number of external events in San Francisco associated with the GDC including events hosted at The Museum of Art and Digital Entertainment and the YetiZen and IGDA presented Yetis on Ice event at the Ruby Sky.

Much more information as well as registration opportunities are available on the Game Developers Conference website.
